The Nigerian Senate noted that some banned
malaria pills in Europe are being consumed in Nigeria and urged citizens to stop taking 42 anti-malarial drugs that could lead to serious health challenges in future.
The Senate has also mandated its committee on Health
(Secondary and Tertiary), led by Senator Olarewaju Tejuoso, to urgently carry
out proper investigation into the matter. The Senate also requested a feedback as soon as possible for further
action to be carried out.
The Senator representing Abia central, Senator T.A Orji
raised the motion saying: “The Senate notes that recently, the European Union
banned the sale and consumption of 42 Anti-Malaria Medications in all countries
within the European Union. “ He listed the 42 Anti-Malaria Medications to include:
