Dr Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has promised adequate incentive support to the $18 billion Dangote refinery to fast track its completion in Lagos. Kachikwu gave the assurance during a facility tour of the refinery on Monday in Lagos. Dangote refinery is situated at Lekki Free Trade Zone in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. According to him, the Federal Government will support it through policies that will liberalise the market. He urged Dangote to speed up completion of the refinery to come on stream before 2019, to promote effective downstream sector. He charged the management of the company to involve tertiary institutions in its operations, to build capacity among students studying oil and gas related courses to have some experience on refinery operations. In a bid to increase exports, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in collaboration with Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) has concluded plans to host the 2018 Food and Beverage Exhibition (FOODEX) in Japan, next year. Preparatory to the event, NEPC’s Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun Awolowo charged Nigerian exporters on the need to adhere to regulations of the destination market. Awolowo stated that for Nigerian exporters to meet the requirements for export of food and beverages to the Japanese market, their products must pass a screening test by JETRO Headquarters to confirm that products are not restricted or prohibited from entering Japanese market under the Japanese laws and regulations. The Charge‘d Affair of  Nigeria  in Mali, Yara Abdulsalam, says an indigenous motor manufacturing company, Innoson Motors, has signed an MoU with a Malian firm to export 400 locally made vehicles to Mali. Mr. Abdulsalam made the announcement on Friday in Abuja when he led a delegation of businessmen from Mali to visit the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama. He said during the week, Innoson Motors signed Memorandum of Understanding with Taxi Plus VIP, a Mali-based transport company for the expansion of transport business in that country. He said the development was the outcome of “Made-in-Nigeria products exhibition” held in Bamako in 2016. The Deputy President of the Senate, Sena­tor Ike Ekweremadu, has decried the high rate of human trafficking in Nige­ria, which he put at about 875,500 per annum, and called for concerted efforts to end the scourge. Relying on the figures re­leased by the Global Slavery Index, Ekweremadu also re­vealed that there were about 45.8 million people living in one form of slavery or the other in about 167 countries around the world. He spoke at an event or­ganised by Devatop Centre for Africa Development to mark the 2017 World Day Against Trafficking in Per­sons at the National Human Rights Commission Office, Abuja.
